Weather
Dallas has hot summers and mild winters with occasional short-lived cold spells and traffic-snarling ice storms. Expect summer highs to average in the mid- to upper-90s F/35 C, with July being the hottest (it's not unusual for temperatures to be above 100 F/37 C). Humidity runs 35%-80% in summer, which can be fairly uncomfortable for those who aren't used to it. Summer visitors should pace themselves and wear light, loose clothing, sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and a hat with a brim—the Texas sun is intense. If dining out in the evening in warm weather, use insect repellent. Also, always take a bottle of water with you on outings in warmer weather.
Spring and fall, when the weather is mildest, are the best times to visit. Generally comfortable humidity and temperature ranges of 54-86 F/12-30 C are what visitors will encounter in those seasons. Thunderstorms with occasionally heavy rain and hail are frequent in spring. Annual rainfall is about 32 in/81 cm, heaviest in April and May. Annual snowfall averages 3 in/7.6 cm.
