Corporate training budgets are on the chopping block, but does training still matter to employees?

Bottom line: Employees still value learning. From January 15 to February 11, 2009, we surveyed 7,476 training participants. We found that even in the face of high unemployment, training still has personal relevance and importance to your employees. Of those surveyed, 90 percent said that when they search for a new job, it is important to find a position that offers good training opportunities. In addition, 76 percent said because of the economic uncertainty, they are actively pursuing ways to develop new or existing skills. Workers also are showing initiative, with 70 percent saying they've asked their boss for additional training opportunities. And 78 percent said they would spend personal, unpaid time in training courses if they were available and would help them develop their skills. Click here to read more survey results.
