Deloitte's New Learning and Leadership Center
October 29, 2009
Deloitte LLP broke ground yesterday on a new learning and leadership development facility in Westlake, TX. The facility, Deloitte University, is scheduled to open in 2011.

The company says Deloitte University will be "a central destination for delivering leading-edge learning and leadership development at critical moments in the careers of its people." Deloitte employees will meet at the facility to acquire both technical and industry skills, and professional and leadership capabilities.

"The construction of Deloitte University affirms and advances our commitment to our people, and underscores our belief that our people are our greatest asset," says Barry Salzberg, chief executive officer of Deloitte LLP. "Deloitte University will deliver leading-edge learning at critical moments in each person's career, from new hires to partners, principals, and directors. It will be a powerful catalyst for career-long learning at a setting designed to promote both the personal and professional growth of our people."

Deloitte says the university "will foster a high-performance organization and a high-touch culture by offering an environment with advanced technology and amenities; collaboration across businesses, service lines and industries; and connections with people, resources, and tools for growth." The learning that takes place at Deloitte University is designed to be innovative, including "leading-edge" techniques such as reality-based simulations, leader-led experiences, case studies, and social learning.

The nearly 750,000 square-foot campus will be built on 107 acres in Westlake. It will feature 35 classrooms and informal learning spaces; meeting rooms and conference facilities; 800 on-site guest rooms; networking, dining, and social venues; and recreational amenities, including a fitness center and running trails.
