Without a Job, Who Am I?
November 06, 2009
It was in the news today that the U.S. unemployment rate hit 10.2 percent. So, logic dictates, many of you have employees you just gave the bad news to, or soon will in the next month or so. You may want to send them on their way with a book that just came out.

According to psychiatrist and author Abraham J. Twerski, M.D., millions of people confuse who they are with what they do. When faced with the loss of their job, home, or life savings, they struggle not only to keep their head above water financially, but also to maintain a healthy, positive view of themselves and their value to the world.

For that reason, presumably, Twerski wrote "Without a Job, Who Am I?" The new release strives to offer a system of support to help the newly-unemployed stay motivated and persevere, as well as develop and sustain lasting values and a sense of identity regardless of material circumstances.

Twerski says he offers "time-tested principles and practices for successfully coping with grief, hardship, and trauma to help us rise personally from professional or financial loss."

In addition, the author says his book will give those you just laid-off "tools to stay centered on what really matters by helping us identify what positive self-esteem is, and define the personal values needed to sustain it, deal with the depression and grief that often follow economic loss, examine what worry does for and to us, manage stress caused by negative emotions, and find familial and spiritual support."
