Training TechTalk: July/August
July 28, 2008
By Margery Weinstein

• Tooling U, a Cleveland-based online training company specializing in manufacturing, created a mobile training platform. This platform, TU Mobile, allows users to access the company's training Website from anywhere in the world. From a mobile device, a student can take a class, enter and save notes, and complete tests. Administrators responsible for managing a training program can track student reports and administer student schedules while out of the office. Data is tracked as if the student were taking a class from a computer.

• Canon U.S.A., Inc., a provider of digital imaging, introduced two new models to its REALiS Multimedia Projector line. Canon's REALiS WUX10 is a WUXGA-resolution (1920 x 1200) widescreen multimedia projector that uses liquid crystal on silicon technology. It delivers the highest resolution of any Canon projector and is designed to provide precise color reproduction and high image quality. Canon's REALiS SX80 multimedia projector is a high- resolution SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) model that offers PictBridge connectivity.

• IMC AG, a supplier of learning technologies, released an updated version (3.0) of its interactive rapid authoring tool, LECTURNITY. The LECTURNITY 3.0 Publisher offers a "one-click" upload process for all target formats and different server types, including streaming server, Web server, file server, and Podcast server.

• Newton Peripherals LLC released the MoGo Presenter Mouse X54, a Bluetooth-enabled, business-card-sized, wireless mouse that stores and charges in a laptop's PC-card slot. The tool, designed for people who travel and give presentations frequently, has the same functionality as conventional laser mice—scroll, right click, left click—in addition to the capability to double as a presenter with a laser pointer.
