What's Cooking at the Boca Raton Resort & Club
July 16, 2008
Two new group culinary activities promote camaraderie in the kitchen
By Jeanie Casison

In South Florida, incentive groups staying at the Boca Raton Resort & Club will do more than just break bread when trying to get to know their business colleagues. Two new Cooking Challenges, available for private events, combine teambuilding with the gourmet experience, ensuring plenty of food fun for everyone.

The "Calling All Chefs" four-course cooking challenge promotes friendly competition as participants test their culinary skills with those of a resort chef and a wine specialist; while the "Iron Chef" program, inspired by the Food Network show, invites aspiring Bobby Flays and Mario Batalis to whip up a four-course meals using a "mystery box" of ingredients. An awards ceremony is held after both events.

"Our Cooking Challenges offer something different. Sometimes groups might be a little skeptical because they have never done this before, but once they get involved they realize it gets competitive," says Chef Andrew Roenbeck, who helped developed the culinary programs for the Boca Raton Resort & Club. "It is perfect for teambuilding. Everybody laughs, and you can see the dynamics of team effort. It is camaraderie at it best. It is very hands on, and not one of those programs where you kick back and stand in the corner with a cocktail. Everyone has to participate."

Foodies will be glad to know that the Boca Raton Resort & Club also offers several private dining options including customized menus and signature dishes at its selection of restaurants including Cielo by Angela Hartnett and the Old Homestead Steakhouse. This fall, the resort is slated to add Morimoto and Serendipity to its menu of establishments.

As for recreation, guests can enjoy access to a private beach, Spa Palazzo, two 18-hole championship golf courses, 30 tennis courts, among other amenities.
