On-Site Insight: Boston
September 17, 2009

Boston may be most famous for its Tea Party and the rivalry between the Red Sox and the New York Yankees, but there is so much more this city has to offer, and there are great finds to be discovered.

As president of Premiere Corporate Events and author of 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live, I have been all around the world to events but something always seems to pull me back to Beantown.

Although I currently live in Manhattan, I went to college at Boston University. There are many great reasons to go to Boston—and many of them coincide with sporting events. Boston boasts Fenway Park, the oldest active stadium in the U.S. among the country’s four major professional sports. Fenway is home to the Red Sox. The experience of a Red Sox game at Fenway is worth the trip to Boston from anywhere. While in college, I actually had the opportunity to work at Fenway, until they found out I was a Yankees fan and I had to quit. No joke!

When in Boston, also check out the other major sports teams: the Boston Celtics, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins. While both the Celtics and Bruins play in the heart of the city at the TD Garden arena, the Patriots host its games in a more suburban setting in Foxboro, MA. Boston’s teams have a tradition of excellence: the Celtics hold the NBA record for championship titles, the Patriots won the Super Bowl three times in four years (2001, 2003, 2004), and the Bruins have won the Stanley Cup several times.

The sports in Boston alone should be enough to encourage you to make the trip! With respect to lodging, Boston has many great hotels to offer. Look to the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf. As Boston’s only five-star waterfront hotel, it fuses the waterfront’s colonial past with its bright present. Buttressed by amazing boutiques and stunning restaurants, this hotel is a refreshing option.

The XV Beacon Hotel is located at the crest of Beacon Hill, offering wonderful views of the city. The XV boasts sleek decor, fine art, and distinguished yet discreet personalized service. This hotel defines luxury.

Nine Zero, ideally located in downtown Boston, brings you plush accommodations and personalized service. The property is only steps away from Boston Common, Beacon Hill, the Financial District, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, and Fenway Park.

Finally, look to the Four Seasons Hotel Boston. Consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in Boston, the Four Seasons overlooks the famed Public Garden and Beacon Hill. It has elegant simplicity and old-world charm. The Four Seasons offers more suites than any other luxury hotel in the city. Plus, it can cater to both the highest executives and families.
