Online Social Network Pathable Wins 2009 EIBTM WorldWide Technology Watch

Pathable, an online community and social network for conferences and events, has been bestowed EIBTM’s WorldWide Technology Watch Award for 2009.
Pathable allows attendees at conferences and events to communicate with and get to know each other, via its discussion group area, before they physically arrive on site. Also an online aggregator, Pathable integrates meetings industry-related Twitter and blog feeds and informs attendees which of their Twitter friends are registered for particular events.
Some other attendee features are photo and bio directories, personalizable session calendars, and a tool that lets attendees match up with each other at shows.
Pathable is also integrated with major registration providers, the websites of events, and other social networking services, allowing show organizers to import and invite members of the online community.
“We are thrilled to have earned the recognition,” says Jordan Schwartz, CEO of Seattle-based Pathable Inc. “Pathable has been largely focused on the U.S. to date; the EIBTM award provides introduction for our ideas to the European market.”
EIBTM organizer Reed Travel Exhibitions has awarded Pathable a free stand at the Meeting Professionals International Technology Village (stand P145), giving the company an opportunity to showcase the online tool.
There were 46 entries to this year’s EIBTM meetings technology competition. Other companies that were recognized by the WorldWide Technology Watch’s panel of judges, which included chair Corbin Ball, principal of Bellingham, WA-based Corbin Ball Associates, a prominent meetings technology consultant, were Vision Tree, which provides a range of mobile-based attendee and event services; Sherpa Solutions, which makes a radio frequency identification attendee badge that can record other attendees, booths, and products; and BusyEvent, a wearable social networking, lead management, session tracking, and audience response/survey tool.
EIBTM exhibitors, hosted buyers, and attendees will have the opportunity to see an overview of Pathable’s product at a presentation and reception on Dec. 2 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. in Conference Centre Room 4.2.
EIBTM will take place Dec. 1-3 in Barcelona.
