Lands’ End Extends Beyond Apparel Into Promotional Products Market
September 23, 2009
By Donna M. Airoldi
Lands’ End polo shirts, button-downs and fleece jackets have long been staples in the branded apparel category. Now clients can supplement their embroidered clothing requests with a variety of new promotional products.
As of last month, Lands’ End Business Outfitters, the corporate division of the high-quality preppy apparel purveyor, significantly expanded its branded product line to include such items as pens, water bottles and ceramic mugs, tote bags, flashlights, golf accessories and more, making the company a one-stop-shop for customers’ client gifts, employee rewards and corporate branding needs.

The Dodgeville, Wis.–based company cited recent research showing that nearly every organization looking to build its brand uses promotional gifts in a variety of categories—specifically drinkware, bags and totes, and writing/desktop instruments—as the reason for the new lines.
“Lands’ End Business Outfitters is expanding our product offering to better serve our customers by providing a single, reliable source of branded products, from polo shirts to drinkware,” said John Maher, vice president of Lands’ End Business Outfitters. “We have selected items for our collection that are not only useful but also tasteful, professional and, in many cases, sustainable.”
In support of the growing demand by consumers world-wide for eco-conscious/green products and services, each new product category includes an eco-friendly option, made from post-consumer, previously used and post-manufacturing materials, along with sustainable resources such as cotton and bamboo. As with traditional Lands’ End Business Outfitters purchases, all the new products are guaranteed by the company.
Lands’ End Business Outfitters, noting that the most valued company attribute by customers is to provide an easy and dependable online ordering experience, also launched an online company store application, allowing customers to quickly build a custom site for their business or organization. A customer’s company store home page matches its branding, and employees are able to select specific products, styles and colors that meet their company’s branding needs. Customers also have the ability to upload approved logos to the site to ensure that their company is properly represented on all branded items.
