The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel has commenced a $125 million renovation encompassing all guest rooms in the 758-room Swan Hotel and in the 1,509-room Dolphin Hotel, it announced yesterday.

The project, which is the largest in the property's 25-year history, will revamp guest rooms with a new room design, upgraded furniture, contemporary bathrooms, and the latest in-room technology.

"As we celebrate the hotel's 25th anniversary, it is appropriate that we mark the occasion with a renaissance of our room product," General Manager Fred Sawyers said in a statement. "Our guests will continue to receive the level of service and hospitality that comes with a quarter century of experience while enjoying a modern new guest room."

Most guest rooms will remain open during the renovation, and the hotel's public spaces, restaurants, meeting rooms, shops, pools, and recreational areas will not be impacted.

Already underway, the renovation is scheduled for completion by the end of 2016, although the first phase -- 500 of the 756 rooms at the Swan Hotel -- will be complete by the end of this year.
