Loews Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans for a new, Caribbean-themed hotel at Universal Orlando Resort. Called Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, it will be located in between Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Loews Royal Pacific Resort, connecting to the latter via an air-conditioned, covered bridge that will give meeting planners seamless access to 2,000 combined guest rooms and 272,000 square feet of combined meeting space.
"We are excited to continue our growth plans at Loews Hotels by building another hotel with our long-standing partners at Universal Orlando," Loews Hotels & Resorts Chairman Jonathan Tisch said in a statement. "This project marks a first for our company, as we will connect the meeting space at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort with the meeting space at Loews Royal Pacific Resort, giving planners new options for their meetings and events in Orlando."
Built around a tropical lagoon and a large waterfall, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will offer 1,000 guest rooms, a resort-style pool, a fitness center, a full-service restaurant, and 131,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 41,000-square-foot ballroom, a 32,000-square-foot second ballroom, 43 square feet of pre-function space, and 15,000 square feet of meeting-room space.
Although the resort won't open until summer 2016, it's already accepting reservations from meeting planners.
"Our meeting and event planners repeatedly tell us that Universal Orlando provides a completely immersive experience from the moment their attendees arrive and are transported to another place," said Tom Williams, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts. "We look forward to bringing them yet another incredibly themed experience featuring wonderful meeting and event options with the opening of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort."
Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be the fifth hotel at Universal Orlando Resort.
