Although final numbers won't be announced until later this quarter, Las Vegas hosted more than 42 million visitors in 2015, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced today.

"This breaks [2014's] record of 41.1 million, which was the first time the destination had ever topped 40 million," reported LVCVA, which attributes the boost to "several new non-stop flights, increased convention attendance throughout the year, and several other factors."

Tourism is southern Nevada's and Las Vegas's largest industry, generating more than $50 billion annually and supporting 366,000 local jobs, which represents 43 percent of employment within Clark County.
