California-based Joie de Vivre Hotels is adding expanding its portfolio with new hotels in three major U.S. cities, its parent company, Commune Hotels & Resorts, announced last week.

In Chicago, Joie de Vivre has taken over management of the 16-story, 149-room Talbott Hotel. Located in the city's upscale Gold Coast neighborhood, the property will undergo a six-month renovation of its guest rooms and public spaces beginning in spring 2016.

In Washington, DC, Joie de Vivre has taken over management of The Liaison Capitol Hill, which has 343 guest rooms, 17,000 square feet of meeting space, and a signature restaurant by celebrity chef Art Smith.

Finally, in New Orleans, Joie de Vivre is converting the former Rault Center office building into a 184-room boutique hotel that will open next fall in the Big Easy's Central Business District. Upon opening, it will have meeting space, a signature restaurant, and a 3,200-square-foot rooftop bar with views of downtown, the French Quarter, and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

"Creating a presence in these exciting and diverse cities has been a goal of ours," said Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts. "Chicago, Washington, DC, and New Orleans are cities that embody the vibrancy of Joie de Vivre Hotels, are popular with our loyal customers, and are perfectly aligned with our expansion plans for the JdV brand."
