Hyatt Hotels Corp. is taking its extended stay brand, Hyatt House, to the Big Easy, it announced yesterday.

Scheduled to open this fall adjacent to the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, to which it will connect via a second-floor sky bridge, Hyatt House New Orleans/Downtown will have 194 residentially-inspired guest rooms and 636 square feet of meeting space, not to mention free Wi-Fi, a bar/restaurant, and a 24-hour workout room.

"New Orleans has flourished over the past 10 years with current visitor numbers exceeding those before Hurricane Katrina," said General Manager Jane Tebbe Shute. "In addition to the city's popularity in the tourism industry, New Orleans' advancing medical district is bringing exciting new developments to the local market. We are excited to introduce those visiting New Orleans to the unique guest experience offered by the Hyatt House brand."

Added Michael Smith, general manager of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, "The addition of Hyatt House New Orleans/Downtown will not only expand the diversity of room product in the city but also support the continued success of group sales efforts at Hyatt Regency New Orleans … We are looking forward to working closely with Hyatt House New Orleans/Downtown and welcoming visitors with this exciting new offering."
