A year after closing, the Conrad Chicago has reopened as a new hotel in a new location, Hilton Worldwide announced today.

"We are excited to expand the Conrad Hotels & Resorts portfolio to include this property in Chicago, which will re-energize the city with its stunning design, innovative restaurants, and smart guest rooms," said John Vanderslice, global head, Conrad Hotels & Resorts. "It is a testament to rapid growth of the Conrad brand, which now encompasses 31 properties worldwide and counting."

Located on Rush Street, adjacent to Chicago's Magnificent Mile shopping district, the previous Conrad Chicago was replaced in September 2015 by The Gwen, a member of Starwood's The Luxury Collection. Situated just three blocks north, in the former corporate headquarters of ad agency Draft FCB, the new Conrad Chicago has 287 residential-style guest rooms across 20 stories, as well as a "sky lobby" on the 20th floor, three restaurants envisioned by Chef Richard Sandoval, a private Fisker luxury house car offering complimentary drop-off service within a two-mile radius, and 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 10 meeting rooms that meeting planners will be able to preview thanks to 3-D scans that the hotel is producing in partnership with event diagramming company Social Tables.

The 3-D scans aren't the hotel's only high-tech amenity. Conrad Chicago also features keyless guest room entry, smart lighting, an app offering access to the hotel's various services, and a "Virtual Reality Enhanced Concierge" featuring 360-degree video and Oculus headsets through which guests can virtually sample some of Chicago's sites, like the John Hancock Observatory.
