Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys will reopen on Aug. 30 following a major restoration and renovation program launched in the wake of Hurricane Irma last September.

Located on Duck Key about halfway between Key Largo and Key West, the AAA Four-Diamond property went far beyond repairing storm damage in a $50 million renovation that saw a redesign of the lobby, a fresh color palette and dcor for the 177 guest rooms, and the addition of two new restaurants, including steak and seafood spot 61 Prime. It has 20,000 square feet of oceanfront meeting and event space, and the award-winning Calm Waters Spa.

While the resort remains family friendly, there is a new, expanded adults-only area, Oasis Cay, featuring a larger new Tranquility Pool.

"We're bringing back what guests loved about Hawks Cay with a fresh design in the main hotel and new experiences that will take the Resort into a new era," said Sheldon Suga, Hawks Cay Resort's vice president and managing director. "We've focused on the physical changes of the main resort area, but we've also taken this opportunity to spend a lot of creative moments on the experiential programming for guests as well."

This includes activities such as Captain Hawk and Priscilla the Pirate Queen performing at the Pirate Ship Pool, and Koral the Mermaid telling stories and splashing around at the Coral Cay Pool.
