Fort Lauderdale doesn't enjoy as much prestige as its sibling to the south, Miami. That appears to be changing, however: Florida developer Fort Partners has announced plans to build a new Four Seasons hotel in Fort Lauderdale, starting next year.

Scheduled to open in 2018, the beachfront Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences, Fort Lauderdale will have 150 guest rooms and 95 residences spread across 23 floors, not to mention separate guest and resident swimming pools, a beach club, a spa, a fitness center, a children's recreation room, a ballroom, meeting facilities, and several restaurants.

"I believe that 2015 is the right time and Fort Lauderdale is the right place for Fort Partners to develop the new Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences on Fort Lauderdale Beach," Fort Partners CEO Nadim Ashi said in a statement. "This Four Seasons will enhance and elevate Fort Lauderdale to a world-class destination."
