In order to give its clients more lodging options for their meeting attendees, event management company Experient has partnered with home-sharing website Airbnb, it announced yesterday.
Experient plans to leverage Airbnb as an alternative in cities where demand for hotel rooms exceeds supply, allowing meeting planners to grow their events beyond the confines of the local room inventory.
"Airbnb is a great option for our clients to supplement their traditional accommodation needs in destinations where there is a lack of availability," Michael Guerriero, division president of Experient, said in a statement. "This cooperative will provide a solution for those organizations to keep registration open and provide additional lodging options to people wanting to attend meetings in cities facing high levels of compression, while continuing to honor and protect contracted blocks."
Added Michael Brous, senior business development lead at Airbnb, "Airbnb's mission is to help people feel like they can belong anywhere -- whether in town for a convention or for a leisure trip, Airbnb will help people live like a local. We are excited for the opportunity to help Experient expand their service offerings by providing more choices through our dedicated business booking platform."
