Its Aloft brand has arrived in the Big Easy with the opening of the Aloft New Orleans Downtown, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced this week.

Located in downtown New Orleans' central business district, the new hotel features 188 guest rooms, a bar, an outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, free Wi-Fi, and 2,500 square feet of meeting space.

"We are thrilled to introduce the Aloft brand, with its distinct design aesthetic, buzzing social scene, and innovative offerings, to the vibrant city of New Orleans," said Brian McGuinness, Starwood's senior vice president of specialty select brands. "Gaining growth momentum in markets worldwide, Aloft continues to build global buzz as we near 100 hotels worldwide."

Launched in 2008, Starwood's Aloft brand caters to next-generation travelers with urban design, unique social experiences, and high-tech amenities, such as "Jack Pack" stations that can be used to charge phones, laptops, and other electronic devices. Presently, the brand has 100 hotels that are either open or coming soon in 14 countries worldwide.
