Though known primarily as a destination for winter sports, Vail, CO, has plenty to offer visiting groups throughout the year. Now that the weather is warming up, groups visiting this mountain getaway will find plenty of outdoorsy teambuilding activities, culinary offerings, and stunning sights that will stay with them long after they return from the event. Here are five activities groups can enjoy when there's not a snowflake to be found.

Hit the Rapids
Few activities offer as much excitement and as many teamwork opportunities as whitewater rafting. Whether attendees are beginners interested in learning the basics of rafting or serious paddle masters seeking Class V twists and spins, Vail has the group covered. Service providers such as Sage Outdoor Adventures offer guides, equipment, and everything else attendees need to enjoy their tour through the area's rugged rivers.

Tour the Treetops
For groups looking to get a bird's-eye view of Vail's stunning scenery, Vail Ski Resort recently launched Epic Discovery Summer, offering attendees a wide range of treetop outdoors activities, including a ropes course, zip lines, and the high-speed Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster. Visitors can also try out the Eagle's Nest Summer Tubing, bungee trampoline, or keep things more relaxed with a guided hike or visit to the Nature Discovery Center.

Lunch With a Llama
Speaking of hiking, groups can add a friendly mammal to the outdoor exploration by signing up for the Take a Llama to Lunch program through Paragon Guides. Groups can tromp through Vail Valley's backcountry trails for the day, with the llamas carrying gear and lunch and Paragon providing pickup and transportation. (But don't try to ride one of the "boys" -- these easygoing pack animals only carry about 80 pounds.)

Trailblaze on Two Wheels
Vail is a great place to get around on two wheels, as well. Via the Eagle Bahn and Gondola One, visitors gain access to miles of stunning cross-country trails deep in the backcountry. Whatever skill level the attendee may have on the back of a bike, they will be able to find a trail that makes for a fun day out.

Summer Sips
Summer in Vail is not just about the outdoors. Visitors can sample some of the best that this destination has to offer (and take a well-earned break from all that activity) by going for a tasting at Vail Brewing Co. or (for those who prefer something more potent) 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirits. Both offer group tastings and spaces for events or meetings, allowing visitors to get in some work and play in the same place.
