Marketers often liken consumers to bees, except rather than pollen, the former spread word-of-mouth about their favorite ideas, companies and products, messages transmitted person to person instead of flower to flower. Along with things like fashion, film and technology, consumers also buzz about travel.

To find out what has travelers buzzing in 2019, tourism advisors at Resonance Consultancy analyzed 100 popular tourism destinations around the world according to 24 factors in six key categories. Based on a combination of core statistics and online ratings and reviews, they then ranked the cities in order to determine which ones are receiving the most attention from global travelers. Published this week, the result is Resonance's list of "The Buzziest Cities in the World."

The seven "buzziest" cities, according to the list, are:

1. London
2. New York
3. Paris
4. Dubai
5. Rome
6. Singapore
7. Madrid

According to Resonance president and CEO Chris Fair, "Why do you keep hearing about certain cities over others? It's the story volume that's out there: from owned media by destination marketing organizations surfaced with a Google search, to shared stories by locals and visitors on Facebook and Instagram. We wanted to create a hot list of the places that excel in global buzz for 2019."

Resonance's full list of cities -- as well as tourism recommendations for visitors to each of them -- is available at BestCities.org, where it houses all its rankings in the areas of tourism, real estate and economic development.
