W Dubai - the Palm has opened its doors, introducing the first W Hotels-branded property to the Middle East. On the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah (the one shaped like a palm tree), the 350-room property with more than 6,500 square feet of event space promises incentive groups unconventional design and luxurious accommodations for their next visit to the destination.

The hotel's meeting space includes the nearly 4,000-square-foot Great Room, designed in an oval shape with custom lighting features and rotating walls that allow groups to control the amount of sunlight in the room. The Green Room includes eye-catching light fixtures and henna-like patterns in the carpeting.

Design touches in the entrance include a massive "W" and a display of colorful Orsoni glass tiles, which guide guests into a five-story atrium featuring golden trusses and the "Soundwave," a 6.5-ton, 100-foot-long glass sculpture meant to evoke sound of a W. The 350 guest rooms also promise plenty of style, with curved walls adorned with graffiti art.

Other offerings at the W Dubai - the Palm include a number of pools and the W brand's signature Wet Deck for outdoor gatherings. The Away Spa provides 10 treatment rooms, a steam room and a sauna, as well as a hammam, or Turkish bath. For those looking to stick with their workout regimen, the Fit gym's equipment is in a space adorned with abstract art.

"We are excited to bring the W brand to Palm Jumeirah with the highly anticipated opening of W Dubai - the Palm," said Alex Kyriakidis [https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-kyriakidis-53885b8/], president and managing director of the Middle East and Africa for Marriott International [http://Marriott.com]. "W Dubai - the Palm combines the city's unique allure with the brand's bold design and dynamic lifestyle, and gives it a locally relevant twist."

Kyriakidis pointed specifically to the property's six culinary offerings. Among them are Torno Sobito from celebrated Italian chef Massimo Bottura; the modern Japanese fare of Akira Back; the adults-only rooftop escape of SoBe (as in South Beach, Miami, which is the inspiration for the menu and atmosphere); and the fresh, light bites of LIV.
