As part of its expansion into the urban vacation sector, Spanish hospitality company Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Spain's capital city, it announced last week.

Located in Madrid's luxurious Gran Vía area, the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía hotel has 103 guest rooms, a chef-led restaurant, a bar and lounge, a fitness center, six meeting spaces for groups of up to 250 people, and a unique "Wi-Fi & Walk" system that allows guests to stay connected to the hotel's network as they wander Madrid.

Situated inside a historic building that first opened in 1917, the property features a literary theme and is therefore adorned throughout with famous quotes from writers and poets, whose works readers can enjoy in the hotel's library, a secluded reading room with ample lighting and comfortable seating.

"With the opening of the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, the company is now present in one of Spain's top domestic and international tourism destinations," said Aurelio Vázquez, Grupo Iberostar's CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. "Iberostar feels privileged to have a hotel like this in Madrid, as it will enable us to continue offering the Group's consolidated standards of quality in a unique setting. It is also just the right move in our strategy of focusing on the urban-holiday segment, which is now made up of four hotels."
