Ibiza is known for its vibrant nightlife. Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, however, thinks it will have as much allure for people seeking a retreat as it does for those seeking a rave. In 2020, therefore, it will open Six Senses Ibiza, a wellness-themed resort and spa on the Spanish island's northern tip, it announced this week.

"We're very excited to open our first resort, spa, and residential project in Ibiza, a project that celebrates wellness, sustainability, and community spirit," said Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas CEO Neil Jacobs.

Located in Cala Xarraca, the 25-acre Six Senses Ibiza will offer 134 guest accommodations for visitors -- including two six-bedroom mansions -- and nine private villas for residential buyers. It also will boast a "spiritual learning center" offering fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness programming, and a local, organic, and unprocessed food-and-beverage-program, including a 24/7 market offering local produce on long communal tables, a poolside bar serving raw food and organic beer, and a restaurant serving tapas and barbecue seafood.

The resort's highlight, however, will be its expansive spa. Indoors it will feature a communal treatment lounge, an oxygen bar, a juice bar, a yoga studio, a fitness center, and an anti-aging clinic. Outdoors spaces, meanwhile, will include "massage catacombs," a Watsu pool, a labyrinth, and a garden growing spa botanicals.

"Our vision is to capture the authentic Ibiza experience of community, spirituality, and celebration to be delivered with top service, organic food and beverage, and luxurious accommodations for our guests," said Jonathan Leitersdorf of Beach Box Ibiza S.L., the project's developer. "It will be the first full-service hospitality experience with rich amenities that are not yet offered on the island. Partnering with a world-class operator such as Six Senses, together we will deliver a resort and residential community for all ages, while promoting the importance of sustainability and healthy living."
