Rosewood Miramar Beach has opened in Montecito, in Santa Barbara County overlooking the pristine beach in that Southern California community. The 161-room luxury property takes inspiration from the Miramar By the Sea Hotel, the historic getaway that once stood on the same site. Known as a fashionable beachfront resort throughout most of the 20th century, that hotel closed for renovations in 2000, and the site has sat vacant since then.

The long-awaited Rosewood Miramar Beach promises an ultra-luxury residential feel with a variety of room types, including multi-bedroom bungalows, signature suites and 26 beachfront accommodations that are set directly over the sand.

The Manor House is the heart of the property, where a single-entry front door opens into a dramatic grand foyer. A luxurious curved staircase defines that entry area and leads to the guest rooms and three signature suites: the Founder's Residence, the Miramar Suite and the Ambassador Suite. The suites may be combined with king-sized guest rooms to form a private, seven-bedroom retreat within the Manor House.

The bungalows and Lanai House guest rooms are situated among the resort's 16 acres. Each accommodation provides a furnished balcony or patio, a roomy dressing area and views of the garden, ocean or mountainside. Bathrooms are outfitted with marble finishes and freestanding soaking tubs.

The 26 Beach House suites, studios and guest rooms all have private terraces over the sand and memorable ocean views, as well as several other exclusive amenities that include access to a complimentary evening cocktail trolley and monogrammed pillowcases and robes.

All guests can enjoy beachside service that includes chairs and umbrellas, food and cocktails, and activities on land and sea. Surfboards and paddleboards are available from the beach attendants.

The property offers two swimming pools, including the distinctive Cabana Pool, with a unique serpentine-edge design and 19 luxury cabanas. Original artwork, curated by property owner and developer Rick Caruso, is placed throughout the resort. Among the more than 600 pieces are originals by Norman Rockwell, Fernando Botero, Mel Bochner and many other well-known artists.

Seven restaurants and bars are on property, helmed by Michelin-starred executive chef Massimo Falsini. Options include the oceanfront restaurant Caruso's; Malibu Farm at Miramar, the first resort outpost of Helene Henderson's farm-to-table restaurant; the oceanfront Miramar Beach Bar; the stately Manor Bar; the family-friendly Scoop Shop; the poolside Cabana Bar, and the Manor House's Living Room, specializing in afternoon tea or a glass of champagne. On-site retail options include the Goop Sundries Shop and the Gatehouse, a California-inspired concept store.

Rosewood Miramar also offers a fitness center and Sense, a Rosewood Spa, as well as an upcoming salon by Sally Hershberger.

Among the more than 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space are the Founder's Dining Room, the 6,561-square-foot Chandelier Ballroom and an expansive Great Lawn
