If you're looking for a top-notch destination for your next incentive program, you might consider an old standby like Las Vegas. Or perhaps someplace new and exotic, like Bangkok. Both make the cut for inclusion in the Global Destination Index, from destination management companies Pacific World and ACCESS Destination Services. This annual index recognizes the world's top destinations for meetings, incentives, and conferences.

"The Pacific World Global Destination Index report identifies each year the countries and cities most thriving within the meetings, incentives, and conferences industries," said Pacific World Global Marketing Manager Patricia Silvio. "This year overarching themes that led to an increase in popularity were improvements in transportation/flights, an increase in venues and hotels, investment in technology, attractive exchange rates, and safety and stability."

In Asia Pacific, the top countries for meetings and incentives are Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore, while the top cities are Bangkok and Bali, according to Pacific World and ACCESS, which cite "governmental stability, attractive exchange rates, and improved flight connections" as factors contributing to increased attention from source markets like North America and Australia.

In Europe, France and Italy are the top countries for meetings and incentives. "Improved transport links and investment in infrastructure resulting in the opening of a number of new hotels and venues" are the reasons, according to Pacific World and ACCESS, which said Milan and Paris are the most popular European cities for meetings and incentives, with increased interest from source markets like the Middle East, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and Brazil.

In the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is tops, particularly among source markets like the U.K., Saudi Arabia, and India, reported Pacific World and ACCESS, which cited "accessible flight routes, new hotels, and an investment of time and resources in the latest technology and setups to facilitate large-scale events" as the factors behind UAE's ranking.

Finally, Pacific World and ACCESS put Texas at the top of their list in the U.S., followed by Florida and Las Vegas. "New venues, restaurants, and an increase in international and regional flights" have boosted all three destinations, agreed the companies, which said an "abundance of available VIP experiences" have made Dallas, San Antonio, Miami, and Las Vegas the top cities for U.S. conference and incentives.
