mgm recipe showdown

Every meeting planner has his or her own recipe for a successful event. Many planners, however, also have recipes for delicious dishes, which has prompted MGM Resorts International to launch a cooking competition that will bring meeting planners out of the convention center and into the kitchen. The competition, known as the Meeting Planner Recipe Showdown, will take place in 12 cities across North America, including:

  • Toronto (Aug. 19)
  • Dallas (Aug. 21)
  • Boston (Aug. 25)
  • New York (Aug. 26)
  • San Francisco (Aug. 27)
  • Denver (Aug. 27)
  • Los Angeles/San Diego (Aug. 28)
  • Washington, D.C. (Aug. 28)
  • Vancouver (Sept. 9)
  • Chicago (Sept. 10)
  • Minneapolis (Sept. 11)
  • Atlanta (Sept. 18)

To compete, meeting planners must submit a recipe online, after which 12 finalists from each showdown city will be chosen to prepare their dish in front of a live audience, including a panel of fellow meeting planners who will judge each dish and choose a winner.

The top three finishers in each city will have their recipes published in a recipe book written by meeting planners for meeting planners. First-place finishers, meanwhile, will be flown to Las Vegas to compete in the national finals at IMEX America on Oct. 13. The national champion will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in Miami in February 2015.
