JW Marriott has opened JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, the brand's first Italian hotel and its first resort in Europe, Marriott International announced yesterday.

Located on the 16-acre private island of Isola delle Rose, whose historic buildings and parks have been refurbished to constitute the resort, it offers 250 guest rooms, four restaurants, five bars, a cooking and wine academy, a 5,700-square-foot spa, a rooftop pool, and over 12,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including one venue in an old church.

Located 15 minutes by private boat from St. Mark's Square, the resort offers five different accommodations: The Hotel, which has 191 guest rooms overlooking extensive cultivated gardens; La Residenza, which has 12 guest rooms designed in a fresh Mediterranean style; L'Uliveto, which offers 26 guest rooms in a rural garden setting; La Maisonette, which features 20 split-level suites; and La Villa Rose, a private retreat with two bedrooms set in a private garden with a pool. The Hotel is open now, and the remaining accommodations will open in late April.

"The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand and this will be celebrated by a spectacular opening event in June," said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president and global brand manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts. "The new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa exemplifies the elegance and service that have become synonymous with our brand worldwide, incorporating modern design elements with authentic Venetian offerings to create a truly genuine experience in a culturally rich market."
