In advance of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Hilton Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in the capital of Brazil, it announced yesterday: the Hilton Barra hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

 Located in Rio's Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, Hilton Barra has 298 guest rooms, a signature restaurant, a fitness center, an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, and 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including 10 meeting rooms and two ballrooms.

 "Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro is a one-of-a-kind property featuring a sleek, sustainable design that nods to the rich culture of this historic, cosmopolitan city and elevates our overall presence in this pivotal Latin America destination," said Rob Palleschi, global head, full service brands, Hilton Worldwide. "This project marks an exciting milestone for Hilton as we continue to break into new Latin American markets to deliver the unmatched hospitality experience Hilton is known for."
