With pristine beaches and beautiful rainforests, Belize is a popular destination for incentive travel. Soon, however, a trip to Belize will be an even more attractive reward thanks to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, which today announced plans to open a new luxury resort on Caye Chapel, a private island approximately 16 miles northeast of Belize City.

Scheduled to open in 2021, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Caye Chapel, Belize, will encompass 100 guest rooms and suites -- including a collection of overwater bungalows -- as well as 35 private residences and 50 lots for custom-built private estates.

Adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Belize Barrier Reef System -- the largest reef system in the northern hemisphere -- the 280-acre island on which it's located has 6 miles of white-sand beaches and will offer an 18-hole golf course, a marina, and a private airstrip.

Other planned amenities include health and wellness facilities, two beach clubs, multiple restaurants and bars with sea views, retail outlets, and tennis courts, not to mention activities such as boat expeditions, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and diving.

Finally, sustainability will be a major focus of the island, where yet another amenity will be the Fabien Cousteau Nature and Conservation Institute and Adventure Center. Bearing the name of Fabien Cousteau, grandson of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, the institute will engage guests in unique conservation research and education programs, including a 3D coral reef printing program.

Said Four Seasons President and CEO J. Allen Smith, "We are excited to be a part of the reimagination of Caye Chapel into an exclusive luxury experience, and to do so in a way that protects and reinforces the natural wonders of the island."
