If it's tropical luxury you seek, the sandy beaches, swaying palms, and turquoise waters of the Seychelles will surely satisfy your cravings. And if it's privacy and personal service you covet, the archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean has those, too, thanks to a new Four Seasons resort that's opening there next spring.

Located on Desroches Island, which is a 35-minute flight from the Seychelles' main island of Mahe, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island will begin hosting guests on March 1, 2018, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced this week.

Four Seasons -- which also has a resort on Mahe -- began redeveloping the former Desroches Island Resort last year when new owner Desroches Island Developments Ltd. purchased it. Currently undergoing extensive renovations, the resort will boast 40 beachfront bungalows, villas, and suites -- all with private pools and daybed pavilions -- as well as 11 three- to five-bedroom villas for families or groups. Also on offer will be 9 miles of beaches, a gym, an organic spa, and at least two onsite restaurants.

One highlight, in particular, will be the new Castaway Center, a recreation hub from which guests will be able to embark on activities such as hiking, cycling, swimming, diving, and deep-sea fishing. That will be complemented by a new Discovery Center, which will feature interactive displays through which guests will be invited to learn about the local ecology -- including the island's population of approximately 150 giant Aldabra tortoises.

"Everything you can imagine in a secluded tropical island vacation is here on Desroches Island," said General Manager Edward Linsley. "Four Seasons will be the island's only resort, so it's ideal for those who truly want to get away from it all while enjoying a variety of activities and opportunities to explore."
