A new DoubleTree by Hilton resort, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island, has opened in the South Pacific, Hilton Worldwide announced yesterday.
Located on a private island within the island republic of Fiji, the hotel has 120 guest rooms and "bures" -- as traditional Fijian bungalows are called -- and three meeting spaces totaling 2,780 square feet.
"DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island is ready to provide guests with an authentic Fijian experience whilst delivering the comforts and amenities of a full-service resort," said Paul Hutton, vice president of operations, Australasia, Hilton Worldwide. "We are thrilled to be opening this unique and luxurious resort, and look forward to extending a warm Fijian welcome to all of our guests."
Formerly known as the Sonaisali Island Resort, the property also offers three restaurants and bars serving fresh produce from onsite sources -- including a vegetable farm, a hydroponic farm, herb gardens, and tropical orchards -- not to mention one of the largest lagoon-style swimming pools in Fiji.
Said General Manager Martin Rogers, "From our rich culinary options to the many leisure activities available, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island is a true tropical oasis for guests seeking both adventure and luxury."
