ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando are among the nation's favorite meeting venues, according to meetings technology company Cvent, which yesterday published its second annual list of the 100 most popular meeting resorts in North America and the Caribbean.

Compiled from a pool of more than 3,500 qualifying resorts that are listed on the Cvent Supplier Network (CSN), Cvent's online venue directory, the list was determined using a set of qualifying criteria, such as amenities, meeting space, number of guest rooms, volume of meetings, and room nights booked.

Although resorts aren't ranked, the list sends a clear message with the conspicuous absence of Northeastern and Midwestern resorts: Warm climates always win.

"Resorts remain a popular and desirable choice among meeting planners for group business because of their all-in-one capabilities that are attractive for planners and attendees," Eric Eden, vice president of marketing at Cvent, said in a statement. "Providing an environment designed for conducting business with amenities that event attendees will enjoy, ranging from golf courses to dining, gyms, and pools, resorts are designed to meet every need of the business traveler during a group meeting. And clearly those geographies that have warm weather all year have more volume and are better represented on the list."
