The Windy City was extra windy last year thanks to a revolving door of business travelers who spent the year coming and going, according to American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), which today published results from its "2014 Business Travel Snapshot," including a list of the most popular domestic and international destinations for American road warriors.
Based on actual booking data through GBT by U.S.-based business travelers, the top 10 domestic destinations in 2014 were:

The top 10 international destinations, meanwhile, were:

GBT also revealed the top five domestic and international city pairs. Domestically, the top pairs were New York (LGA)/Chicago (ORD), followed by Boston (BOS)/New York (LGA), New York (JFK)/San Francisco (SFO), Dallas (DFW)/Chicago (ORD), and Atlanta (ATL)/New York (LGA). Internationally, meanwhile, the top pairs were New York (JFK)/London (LHR), followed by Newark (EWR)/London (LHR), New York (LGA)/Toronto (YYZ), London (LHR)/Chicago (ORD), and Chicago (ORD)/Toronto (YYZ).
Finally, GBT revealed the top industries for business travel -- professional services, technology/communication, and manufacturing -- and a breakdown of seats booked: Domestically, business travelers booked 95.6 percent of their seats in coach and 4.4 percent in first class; internationally, however, they booked 2.6 percent of their seats in first class, 30.5 percent of them in business class, 1.2 percent in premium coach, and 65.8 percent in coach.
