Business travelers who need to stay connected from the road might want to book their next hotel stay in Scandinavia, as Scandinavian hotel chain Nordic Choice has the world's best hotel Wi-Fi, according to Hotel WiFi Test, a company that uses crowdsourcing to test the quality of Wi-Fi connections at major hotel chains.

According to the company's latest rankings, 85 percent of Nordic Choice hotels offer adequate Wi-Fi, and 100 percent of its hotels offer free Wi-Fi.

In the United States, the top Wi-Fi honor goes to Marriott, although its results "are not that impressive compared with the top hotel chains from the global chart," said Hotel WiFi Test, which noted that only 17 percent of all Marriott hotels in the United States provide free Wi-Fi.

From a list of 50 hotel brands, the global list of the top 10 hotel chains for Wi-Fi follows:

1. Nordic Choice
2. Radisson Blu
3. Renaissance
4. Mercure
5. Ibis and ibis styles
6. Scandic Hotels
7. InterContinental
8. Econo Lodge
9. Four Points by Sheraton
10. Marriott Hotels & Resorts

The 10 worst hotel chains for Wi-Fi, meanwhile, are:

41. Hyatt Place
42. Fairfield Inn & Suites
43. Hilton Garden Inn
44. Candlewood Hotel
45. Motel 6
46. NH Hotels
47. Embassy Suites
48. Extended Stay America
49. Homewood Suites
50. Hampton Inn

Concludes Hotel WiFi Test, "The chain to which a hotel belongs is one of the best predictors of Wi-Fi performance. Therefore, when travelers know how hotel chains are ranked overall, they can choose a specific hotel with better Wi-Fi even if they don't have information about the Wi-Fi quality in that hotel."
