Meetings technology analyst Corbin Ball
has partnered with Skoop
, a technology company that develops community-building apps for meetings and conventions, to create what they claim is the first-ever social network exclusively for event industry professionals.
Called "Meetings Tech HQ," the new social network is a cloud-based private community for iOS
that's designed to facilitate highly relevant information sharing and deep relationship building among meeting and event planners. A mobile-first platform, its features include a Facebook-style newsfeed containing user-generated posts and news, live polling that helps users get instant feedback from the community on topics of interest, calendaring and scheduling capabilities, and an instant messenger for one-to-one chat.
"I am excited and pleased to offer this mobile-first social network to the events community," said Ball, president of Corbin Ball Associates. "It is my hope that it will be an easy and convenient place to connect, share, and learn from each other. I invite all meeting and trade show professionals interested in technology to download the app, stop by, and check it out."
Unlike most social networks, members of Meetings Tech HQ are not required to "friend" or "follow" individual users; instead, they have access to content from all community members in order to promote easy access to breaking news.
"We wanted to build a mobile-first event community where members are united on one easy-to-use platform and communicate year round," said Neil Patwardhan, founder and CEO of EmBazaar Inc., the company that created Skoop. "This greatly reduces the dependency on email and other less engaging forms of communication. We decided to partner with Corbin Ball to drive relevant content and conversations on one dedicated easy-to-use mobile app. Given the rise of noise on other social networks, this is a refreshing one-stop show for meetings tech information that's already set up."
