Every week, we feature a piece of expert advice from a certified recognition professional (CRP) from Recognition Professionals International, an industry association dedicated solely to understanding, improving, and advancing employee recognition & rewards in the workplace.

Q: What advice can you offer our company to help us get our workforce engaged in our company’s success?

A: Put your people first. Your employees are your company’s most valuable assets. It’s not your technology. It’s not your efficient processes. It’s your people that matter most. So, start valuing the role that your people play in customer satisfaction and retention. Take the time to understand how your employees want to be recognized — just ask them. Then, recognize them in meaningful ways and with meaningful awards that will create stories and memories that they will want to share. You will be on your way to creating a culture of recognition in no time. The result will be engaged employees, satisfied customers, and improved bottom line results for your company.
