If your New Year's resolution is to advance your career or increase your involvement in the meetings industry, you're in luck: The Senior Planners Industry Network, otherwise known as SPIN, is eliminating membership dues and event registration fees for all qualified members in 2016.

Established in 2008, SPIN organizes education and events "by senior-level planners, for senior-level planners." Making it not only easy to belong to -- but also free -- is the organization's way of saying "thank you" to its members, according to Founder and Chairwoman Shawna Suckow.

"Our members consistently rave about the value of the SPIN community and our peer-to-peer discussions," Suckow said. "Our hope is that by removing dues and fees in 2016 we will continue to grow our member engagement, which is the measure of success for us."

SPIN's moratorium on dues and fees lasts through the end of the year and extends to its annual North American conference, SPINCon, which takes place Nov. 13-15; its online live education events, called SPIN:LearningLabs; its live branch events, called SPIN:Roundtables; and SPIN:Hire a Planner, its contractor job board.

Concluded Suckow, "We realize that resources are limited and do not want the cost of membership to be the reason why a senior-level planner does not engage in our unique peer-to-peer community experience."
