Spear One Buys Sunbelt Motivation

Texas-based Spear One has merged with Sunbelt Motivation & Travel, a Dallas-based group incentive travel company, following a Dec. 31 acquisition of the 32-year-old Sunbelt. Founded in 1993, Spear One offers full-service meeting management, group incentive travel, recognition and incentive programs, and engagement campaigns for its clientele. Both companies’ operations and account teams will continue serving their respective clients, says Spear One.

The merger will allow Spear One to expand its incentive travel offerings, while giving Sunbelt’s clients more access to broader services that include creative communications, promotional strategy, meeting planning, and non-travel incentives across numerous vertical markets nationwide. As part of the merger, Spear One is expanding its Irving, Texas headquarters to accommodate former Sunbelt employees who will keep their current positions.

Sunbelt Motivation & Travel was founded in 1980 by Bill Boyd, CMP, CMM, CITE, an influential meetings and incentive executive who formerly served as international president of Meeting Professionals International and international president of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives. While the acquisition marks Boyd’s retirement from Sunbelt, he will continue to work as the owner and chairman of Allied/PRA Dallas/Fort Worth, a full-service destination management company.
