The 40th anniversary Site Global Conference in December marked a year of growth and renewal for the incentive travel organization in fine style, with more than 400 travel and motivation executives from around the world in attendance.

The conference took place in the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort from Dec. 7-10. The opening reception was a private party at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and the closing gala dinner at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel.

President David Sand and new Chief Staff Officer Kevin Hinton announced some goals Site has set for itself over the next few years, including substantially expanding the amount of education provided, doubling membership to 4,000 by 2016, and becoming globally recognized as the “I” in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events) industry.

“This conference is a sure step forward toward making Site the ultimate voice of the incentive travel and motivational events industry,” Sand said. “We are focused and determined to keep improving our membership proposition as we grow the influence of the incentive industry globally.”

The emphasis on education was clearly evident in a significantly expanded learning component at the show, including a very popular opening keynote by Cameron Herold, author of "Double Double: How to Double Your Revenue and Profit in Three Years or Less;" three educational sessions a day with topics such as business practices, technology and social media, incentive program benchmarking, and health and wellness; an eight-hour incentive project management certificate course; and a focus on incentive cruising that included a four-hour certificate course, breakout with cruise-industry leaders and a keynote by a leader of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
