Some timepieces are timeless. Such is the case with the limited-edition Bulova Accutron Conqueror wristwatch, inspired by the famous Lone Eagle timepiece that Bulova awarded to Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh in 1927, when he became the first person to complete a solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
Bulova introduced the new product earlier this spring at BaselWorld, the famous watch and jewelry show held annually in Basel, Switzerland. Just 200 of these limited-edition timepieces will be produced, and each will be individually numbered on its caseback and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The impressive heritage behind this watch, coupled with the very limited number available in the premium channel, is sure to inspire motivation and aspiration to any rewards program.
The Conqueror marries Bulova’s early commitment to aviation with its 1960 innovation, Accutron, which was the world’s first fully electronic watch. The technology behind that watch aided the first moon landing on July 20, 1969. The launch of the Conqueror also aligns with the introduction of Bulova Accutron’s new brand ambassador, Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, and an entrepreneur in air travel and space tourism who “embodies the pioneering spirit of the Bulova Accutron Conqueror,” according to the watch maker.
The Bulova Accutron Conqueror is certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) and features a Dubois-Depraz 31340 53-jewel automatic mechanical movement. The Swiss-made chronometer incorporates a precision chronograph with a flyback function for immediate reset, as well as a 24-hour GMT indicator to allow simultaneous independent dual time-zone readings. The COSC certification number is engraved on each movement.
Crafted of solid stainless steel, and featuring a smoothly curved tonneau case engraved to capture the essence of the 1927 original, the Bulova Accutron Conqueror includes green luminous numerals and hands, as well as a Mississippi alligator strap. The watch retails at $4,900.
