The Coolpix S1200pj is Nikon’s next-generation compact digital camera featuring a built-in projector and iPad/iPhone compatibility.

Forty percent brighter than its predecessor, the Coolpix S1200pj has a 20-lumen internal projector that can throw an image or movie up to 60 inches wide onto any surface as far away as 10 feet. Along with storing images or movies on the camera’s internal memory or SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card, this model can also connect to an Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or iPod nano and project whatever is on the screen.

The projector is controlled from the Coolpix S1200pj’s three-inch, high-resolution TFT-LCD touch screen. Built-in music and graphics features allow the user to create slideshows on the go. Special effects and filters allow the addition of an artistic touch to images.

The 14.1-megapixel Coolpix S1200pj has a five-times wide-angle optical-zoom Nikkor lens, five-way VR image stabilizing system, and 17 preset scene modes. Other features include Nikon’s easy auto mode and smart portrait system, which encompasses a smile timer that takes an image when the subject smiles; red-eye correction; face-priority auto focus that can recognize up to 12 faces per shot; and blink-proof shooting that takes two sequential shots and saves the one in which the subject’s or subjects’ eyes are open.

Macro shooting mode, meanwhile, allows taking of photos as close as 1.2 inches from subjects, and the Coolpix S1200pj can shoot video in 720p high-definition resolution.

The Coolpix S1200pj is less than one inch wide, weighs 6.6 ounces, and carries an MSRP of $429.95.
