Bose has introduced a new version of its flagship QuietComfort noise cancelling headphones.
Based on three decades of research into noise cancelling technology, the QuietComfort 25 Acoustic Noise Cancelling, around-ear headphones replace the QC15 headphones, offering improved noise-cancelling and audio performance, as well as new styling and a smaller footprint when folded up.
Bose QuietComfort headphones have been a perennially top-redeeming incentive award, particularly among salespeople who are frequent travelers.
"The QuietComfort 25 headphones set a new standard for performance," said Sean Garrett, vice president of the Bose Noise Reduction Technology Group, in a statement. "We improved nearly every dimension -- greater noise reduction, lifelike audio, a striking new profile and styles, and a new earcup pivot to fold up smaller than ever. We weren't going to replace the QC15 headphones unless we had something that was better and different."
Audio advancements to the new QC25 headphones include a more finely tuned Active EQ for smoother frequency response across the full sound spectrum, Bose TriPort technology for deep, detailed bass with even less "hiss" than the QC15 model. The result, the company says, is more naturally reproduced sound with no distortion or exaggeration of 1instruments or vocals.
The QuietComfort 25 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones get up to 35 hours of use off of a single AAA battery, and the QC25 still works as standard headphones even without power. An inline remote and mic make it easy to take calls with select iPod, iPhone and iPad models, as well as other select smartphones.
Bose has been moving to style its headphone line more aggressively of late, notably with the SoundTrue headphones and SIE2i sport in-ear phones. While the QC25 its materials and design now keeps it closer to the user's head and allows it to fit into a case smaller than any of its competitors' products, Bose says. The ear cushions uses new, engineered materials for better fit and comfort.
The QC25 in standard black and grey or white and tan is available for $299 now.
