With construction ahead of schedule, Los Angeles-based nightlife and hospitality company sbe will open its highly anticipated Vegas hotel, SLS Las Vegas, on August 23 -- a week earlier than originally planned -- it announced yesterday.

"It's such an honor to be part of a dedicated team working around the clock to help bring our vision to life," Rob Oseland, president and COO of SLS Las Vegas, said in a statement. "Today we're turning on our lights and the countdown officially begins as we prepare to welcome guests at SLS Las Vegas one week ahead of schedule."

SLS Las Vegas broke ground in February 2013. Located on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip -- in the space formerly occupied by the iconic Sahara Hotel and Casino, which closed its doors in 2012 -- it will include more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites, 10,000 square feet of high-end retail, 30,000 square feet of meeting space and a collection of sbe's existing restaurant and nightlife brands, including a reinvention of the popular L.A. nightclub, The Sayers Club, and restaurant concepts such as The Bazaar by José Andrés, Katsuya, Cleo, 800 Degrees, Umami Burger and L.A.'s The Griddle Café.

Said Matt Erickson, senior vice president of restaurant operations for SLS Las Vegas, "After two years of collaborating with a world-class culinary team that includes a collection of some of the most talented chefs on the planet we're proud to now be taking reservations and welcoming our guests for what we believe is an unrivaled dining experience."
