The Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock, VT, recently introduced Meetings With a Mission, its new corporate-retreat program designed to foster community service while helping companies attain their meeting objectives.
Corporate clients can choose from three options: The Naked Table
Project, Building Bikes for a Change, and Treasure Chest for Kids. Full
and half-day programs can be customized for each groups’ needs.
The Naked Table Project
In conjunction with local furniture-maker Shackleton-Thomas, groups work
on assembling tables made from local maple trees harvested from a
sustainably managed forest. Post-construction, a forester leads
participants through Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park,
where they will identify and tag a replacement tree for future growth.
Each table includes a maple leaf inscribed with the participating
company’s information. Teams can choose to keep or donate the table(s)
to a charity of choice. Each table is presented with a certificate and
the GPS coordinates of the replacement tree selected.
Building Bikes for Change
Groups are divided into teams of two to five people and provided with a
tool kit for the construction of a bicycle, testing communication
skills. Each team has four hours to complete the construction, after
which a mechanic checks the bikes for functionality. The teams then
present them to the charity of their choice.
Treasure Chest for Kids
Designed to benefit The Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
(CHaD) in New Hampshire, this program provides each team with a story of
a CHaD patient, along with clues that will lead them on a treasure hunt
to help fill a chest with toys, games, books, and other gifts. The
treasure chest is then donated to the children staying in CHaD’s
inpatient units. Half or full-day programs are available and include the
option to have a CHaD representative speak to the group.
All Meetings with a Mission options include a facilitator, lunch, materials, a group photo, certificate, and press release, and can be customized based on budget. For additional information visit www.woodstockinn.com or call the sales department at 802-457-6632.
