Latin America's first Waldorf Astoria hotel is scheduled to open later this year in Panama City, Panama, where it's now accepting reservations for 2013, Hilton Worldwide announced last week.

Upon opening, the new hotel will have 248 guest rooms, four restaurants and bars, a 2,000-square-foot fitness center, a 2,000-square-foot spa, an outdoor swimming pool and more than 3,500 square feet of meeting space — including three multi-purpose meeting rooms and a ballroom.
Previously, the property was to be known as The Panamera. To better showcase the Waldorf Astoria name, however, Hilton has officially changed the name to Waldorf Astoria Panama.
"The Waldorf Astoria name is known throughout the world as representing the best in luxury and hospitality," said Danny Hughes, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America, Hilton Worldwide. "Placing the brand prominently at the front of the hotel name reinforces our commitment to deliver unparalleled service and quality at this first ever Waldorf Astoria hotel in Latin America."
