Andaz to Open First Latin American Property in Costa Rica
September 9, 2013
This Dec. 15, Hyatt’s Andaz brand will debut its first Latin American property, Andaz Papagayo
, which will sit on a 2,223-acres master-planned development on the northwest Pacific coast of the Costa Rica. It will mark the second resort property in the Andaz collection of properties -- the first of which is the recently opened Andaz Maui at Wailea in Hawaii.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring a world-class resort to such a desirable and unique destination in Latin America, which we know will attract international travelers seeking new and inspiring experiences” said Michael Schmid, general manager of Andaz Papagayo in a statement. “Andaz Papagayo will be a wonderful addition to the Andaz family and will showcase the rich culture and history for which Costa Rica is known.”
The 153-room property, which is adjacent to the Marina Papagayo, will feature 21 luxury suites; 8,200 square feet of flexible meeting space; three themed restaurants; a marina bar; a spa; a fitness center; and will also offer various ocean-based activities. The majority of guest rooms and suites will offer balcnoies and accompanying views of the bay. Four of the 21 luxury suites will also have plunge pools; the Presidential Suite will have a private, full-sized pool. The 11,000-square-foot-spa will have nine treatment rooms and will also house a 24-hour gym. Complimentary wireless Internet will also be available to all guests.
The hotel also has a privately accessible beach, and two swimming pools. The nearby Marina Papagayo has 180 slips for yachting, and an 18-hole Arnold Palmer championship golf course is also located on the same peninsula.
The Andaz Papagayo is an approximate 20-minute drive from Liberia International Airport, which offers daily or frequent service from several major U.S. gateway cities, as well as frequent regional service from San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital city.
