Individual incentive travel awards (ITAs) are one of the fastest growing industry segments thanks to their convenience and destination choice. Their popularity is not without controversy, however. Some say these rewards do not build camaraderie. But some incentive travel specialists are adding value to the ITA.

That's exactly what Chicago-based Incentive Travelers Cheque International offers for both individual and group incentive travel programs. "My vision has always been to create an experience," says James Feldman, president.

Each package Feldman offers comes with merchandise, travel, and meet-and-greet experiences. The Concierge Collection permits the sponsor to send customized emails to each winner for more personalized communication.

"The interaction and touch points start as soon as the reservation is made and confirmed. The recipient is assigned a concierge for the trip," explains Feldman, who is widely credited as a key innovator in the ITA category. "They also receive new designer sunglasses and Tumi luggage.  There are so many touch points and reminders of the experience that it will be hard not to realize they won something they earned." Medical insurance, as well as a medevac, is even included.

When a recipient of an Incentive Travelers Cheque arrives at her destination, she will be met at the baggage claim, and transferred to her luxury resort by private vehicle. Recipients are treated as VIPs throughout their stay, with direct access to their concierge who will handle requests personally.
