Getting access to an expansive selection of gift cards is now a bit more convenient for consumers, as online gift card marketplace Raise has announced the upgrades to its mobile app for iOS and Android phones. The upgrades give consumers greater ease in seeking out discounted cards among Raise's 300 retail partners and 3,000 brands.

Those who download the app can explore through this selection of gift cards, seeking out deals for the restaurants, stores, and services of their choice. These cards can be purchased and redeemed straight from the app. Among the enhancements the company has made to the app are improved geolocation technology, which will alert users with "suggestions nearby" push notification when they are near a merchant that accepts their cards. The user interface has also been streamlined to simplify the search and purchase functions.

"Raise is altering the way consumers pay for everyday purchases and transforming payments in a way never before seen," said George Bousis, founder and CEO. "Raise has helped millions of consumers save and the addition of our new mobile app allows for a seamless experience for both retailers and consumers, making it the easiest and the most valuable mobile wallet."

The app's support for a wide range of POS systems has also been expanded, allowing for "better balance tracking and card management capabilities," according to Raise. Those who use the app can now also "reserve" a card on the marketplace for a period of five minutes, giving them time to decide whether they want to make the purchase without fear that it will get picked up by someone else.

The app also provides significant security features, using fingerprint or passcode protection so users can ensure only they are making the purchase.
