On Feb. 19, National Gift Card Corp. (NGC) announced that it has launched its first proprietary application programming interface (API) that will deliver electronic gift cards in real time.

This new API will enable B2B program buyers and clients in the incentive, loyalty, rewards, benefit, and membership spaces to integrate NGC's existing gift card catalog and send "ngceCodes" in real time to recipients.

“Our gift card API is an ideal solution for loyalty programs, rewards programs, or any client needing real time electronic gift card fulfillment, and premium digital card options,” said Eric Thiegs, senior VP of business development.

In addition to cutting the time needed to send electronic gift cards, the new API also makes it easire for organizations' incentive/rewards/recognition program coordinators to operate their respective programs, says NGC. “We manage all of the real-time operational aspects of connecting with the retailers’ processors, activating the eCodes, and even helping to deliver the final eCodes via a branded program email to reward recipients,” said Joan Travelstead, senior VP of program development for NGC.

The new API is an addition to NGC's existing traditional plastic gift card fulfillment services that are currently employed by more than 2,000 different B2B accounts in both the U.S. and Canada. The API offers gifts cards related to more than 200 retailers.
